RECORD: Barça complete sixth domestic double

FOOTBALL –  FC Barcelona defeated Athletic Club in the final of the Copa del Rey on Saturday. After having won La Liga, this domestic double is the sixth in the club’s history.  Before today, Barça had shared the mark of five with Athletic Club, their opponents in the final. FC Barcelona move two doubles clear of Real Madrid, who have done the double on four occasions.

RECORD – Cotterill scores earliest goal by sub

FOOTBALL – David Cotterill scored the earliest goal ever as a substitute in a Euro qualifier in Wales’ match against Cyprus. David Cotterill came on the pitch in the sixth minute and scored the opener for Wales in the 13th minute. This was the earliest goal ever by a substitute in a Euro qualifier. The previous record was in the hands of fellow countryman Peter Anthony O’Sullivan who scored in the 20th minute in Wales’ match against Malta on 25 October 1979.

Frank Lampard sets new PL record

FOOTBALL – Chelsea icon Frank Lampard scored against his former team to hand Manchester City a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium. BREAKING: Eto’o going to record equalling fourth World Cup

FOOTBALL – Samuel Eto’o has included by Cameroon in their 23-man World Cup squad. He joins countrymen and former internationals Jacques Songo’o and Rigobert Song as the only African players to go to the World Cup on four separate occasions. Eto’o and Colombia goalkeeper Farid Mondrágon are the only players that can have played at both the 1998 and the 2014 World Cup.

RECORD: Bagnis, Benneteau combine for Roland Garros record

TENNIS – Grand Slam debutant Facundo Bagnis and veteran Julien Benneteau took 34 games to complete the fifth and decisive set in their R1 match at Roland Garros. It took Paul-Henri Mathieu the same amount of games to finish off John Isner (18-16) in their R2 encounter in 2012, which set a French Open record for longest set in terms of games played (in Open era).
