REVIEW – Juventus wrap up 31st Italian league title

FOOTBALL – By defeating Sampdoria on Saturday, Juventus clinched their fourth consecutive Serie A title. It is Juventus’ 31st Italian top flight title and their 29th in the Serie A era. They won five straight ‘scudetti’ in the 1930s. This is a league record. The last champions that preceded Juventus were AC Milan in 2010/11. That team was also coached by current Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri.

REVIEW: Immobile and Cristiano Ronaldo become top scorers

FOOTBALL – Ciro Immobile became the first Serie A top scorer representing Torino since Francesco Graziani (1976/77). Cristiano Ronaldo became La Liga top scorer for the first time since 2010/11. Ronaldo finished the season with 31 league goals. In Europe’s top-6 leagues (ESP, ENG, GER, ITA, FRA, POR) only Luis Suarez (31) have scored as many goals as Ronaldo this season.

REVIEW: Juve break European points record

FOOTBALL – Juventus defeated Cagliari 3-0 at home in their final Serie A match of the season on Sunday. Juve had already set a Serie A points record and now set a record points total for a season in Europe’s 10 biggest leagues (all matches recalculated according to the 3-point rule). Their 102 points surpassed Benfica’s 101 set in 1990/91, Real Madrid’s 100 set in 2011/12 and FC Barcelona’s 100 points from 2012/13.

REVIEW: Domenico Berardi follows in the footsteps of Andri Shevchenko

FOOTBALL – Domenico Berardi scored a hat-trick in Sassuolo’s 4-3 away win at Fiorentina after he had also netted a hat-trick in Sassuolo’s 4-3 win at Sampdoria earlier this season. Berardi became the first player in 14 years to score a hat-trick in multiple away matches in a single Serie A season since Andri Shevchenko in 1999/2000 for AC Milan (3-0 win at Perugia and a 4-4 draw at Lazio).
