All four gold medal winners in the men’s events during the first two days of the In the FINA World Swimming Championships were predicted correctly by the Infostrada Sports Virtual Medal Table. However, we have also seen some surprising achievements at Barcelona 2013.
With eight of the 40 medal events in Swimming completed at the FINA World Championships there were present the biggest over and under achievers in the tournament so far, compared to the predictions of the Virtual Medal Table.
Slovenia’s Damir Dugonjic finished fourth in the 100m Breaststroke event 22 places higher than was projected in the VMT. This makes Dugonjic the biggest over achiever so far at the FINA World Swimming Championships.
The most sub-standard results were posted in the 400m Freestyle events. In the men’s event, Australia’s David McKeon had clocked the second fastest season best time coming into the World Championships only to finish 12th in the 400m Freestyle event, ten ranks lower than predicted. In the Women’s 400m Freestyle event, gold medal favourite Camille Muffat (FRA) finished only in 7th place.
Men’s 100m Breaststroke bronze medal winner Felipe Lima (BRA) is the only over achiever to have claimed a medal so far.

FORMULA 1 – Lewis Hamilton collected his first chequered flag of the 2013 season, meaning that he has now won at least one Formula 1 Grand Prix in each of his first seven seasons. The only other driver who also achieved that was Juan Manuel Fangio, who won a race each year from 1950 to 1957, whilst not participating in 1952. Hamilton has done it in successive seasons.
FORMULA 1 – Going into the Grand Prix of Hungary, which will take us past the halfway point of the 2013 season, McLaren – Mercedes have completed more laps than any other constructor, 1,089 out of a possible 1,106. Ferrari are bringing up the rear, having completed only 85% of all possible laps.
