REVIEW: Ricciardo wins his second GP, as Mercedes miss out

FORMULA 1 –  Daniel Ricciardo triumphed in the Grand Prix of Hungary to secure his second career F1 Grand Prix win. Earlier this season, he had taken the chequered flag in the GP of Canada. Fernando Alonso finished second to deny the dominant Mercedes team a Top 2 finish for the first time this season.

REVIEW: French put two on the podium in Paris

CYCLING – Jean-Christophe Péraud and Thibaut Pinot will come second and third respectively in the 2014 Tour de France. It is the first time in 17 years that any local favourite reaches the top 3. In 1997, Richard Virenque finished second behind Tour winner Jan Ullrich. The last time two Frenchmen reached the Champs Élysées podium was 30 years ago. In 1984, Laurent Fignon won the Tour de France and Bernard Hinault finished runner-up.

REVIEW: Rogers oldest Tour stage winner in two years

CYCLING – Michael Rogers won the 16th stage in the 2014 Tour de France, finishing in Bagnères-de-Luchon on Tuesday. At age 34 years and 214 days he became the oldest Tour stage winner in two years, when David Millar won at age 35 years and 191 days in 2012. Since 2000, 12 stages had an older winner than Rogers today.

ANALYSE THIS: Nibali most consistent rider in peloton

CYCLING – After 15 of 21 stages, Vincenzo Nibali is the rider not only wearing the yellow jersey, but his worst stage result is also the best of all 171 riders still in the race (including Simon Yates, who will not start tomorrow). Nibali has finished in the top-34 in all 15 stages. He is followed by Tejay Van Garderen who has a top-45 finish in all stages so far. The first ever Chinese rider, Ji Cheng, is the only rider who has yet to finish in the top-100 in a stage (of all 171 riders still in the race).

REVIEW: Sagan can’t win in green jersey

CYCLING – Points classification leader Peter Sagan finished third today in Stage 15 of the Tour de France . He is now on nine Top 5 finishes without winning a single stage in this year’s Tour.

INFOGRAPHIC: Nibali hunts for trilogy

CYCLING – Vincenzo Nibali can become the sixth rider to win all Grand Tours as the Italian champion is the favourite for this year’s Tour victory.  The last rider to win all three Grand Tours was Alberto Contador who completed his trilogy when he won the 2008 Vuelta. Click HERE to check out our infographic.
