BREAKING: Tokyo voted host city of 2020 Olympic Games

OLYMPIC GAMES – Tokyo outlasted Istanbul and Madrid in the IOC vote that determined the host city of the 2020 Olympic Games. Tokyo has now won the bid three times. They won the right to host the Games in 1940, but they were scratched because of World War II. In 1964, Tokyo hosted the Games for the first time. Tokyo joins London as the only cities in the world to have won the bid to host the Olympic Summer Games at least three times.

SPEED SKATING – From Thursday to Sunday, Speed Skating’s World Single Distances Championships will take place at the Olympic track in Sochi, Russia. A blueprint for the Olympic Games should not be expected, since only 12 of 44 (27%) defending champions in a single distance managed to win a gold medal in that same distance little under 12 months later. OLYMPIC GAMES – We are tremendously proud to announce that the Infostrada Sports Group and the International Olympic Committee have voiced their intention to commit until 2020. We thank the IOC for vesting trust in our company in providing statistics, data and athlete biographies for the Sochi 2014 Winter Games, the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Games, the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games and the 2020 Summer Games, to be held in a city that has yet to be appointed as host.

 

ISG has previously signed service provider agreements with Olympic Games organising committees, including Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and London 2012. It has also delivered services to the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010.
