THE WAVE: FC Barcelona – Bayern München

FOOTBALL – This was a very lively and open match, especially considering the size of the stakes. Bayern attempted to keep pace with the hosts in the possession battle, but soon found Barça’s opportunities piling up. Bayern managed a few chances for themselves, but in the final 15 minutes the floodgates burst and Lionel Messi scored twice and in stoppage time set up Neymar for Barca’s third.

THE WAVE: Juventus – Real Madrid

FOOTBALL – Juventus beat Real Madrid 2-1 at home to secure their 50th home win in the Champions League. Juve (7 on target) and Real (3 on target) both had 12 shots each this match and our wave shows how evenly matched both teams were in this semifinal. The score in the end, however, was in favor of the Italians. THE WAVE: Liverpool v Manchester United

FOOTBALL – Manchester United won 2-1 at Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. Liverpool were down to 10 men after Steven Gerrard was sent off only 42 seconds after coming on at half time. THE WAVE: Manchester City v FC Barcelona

FOOTBALL – FC Barcelona defeated Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League on Tuesday. The wave shows a very effective Barcelona in the first half with two goals after 30 minutes. Man City showed nothing in the first half after the opening 10 minutes. The first half hour of the second half was all City’s, but they converted only once. After their goal, they hardly pressed anymore and were lucky Barcelona did not score a third goal. THE WAVE: Schalke 04 v Real Madrid

FOOTBALL – Real Madrid defeated Schalke 04 in the first leg of the 2014/15 Champions League Last 16. The wave below shows Schalke in red and Real Madrid in blue. Schalke failed to score a goal when they had two pressing moments, while Real Madrid were much more effective, scoring twice without pressing much more than the Germans. Continue reading
