REVIEW: Hamilton wins 30th career F1 Grand Prix

FORMULA 1 –  By winning the Grand Prix of Japan, Lewis Hamilton raised his career total for F1 Grand Prix victories to 30. Hamilton is only the seventh driver in history to break 30. He is now one GP victory behind the most prolific Briton in this respect, Nigel Mansell on 31. Hamilton has won three Grands Prix in a row, a feat he has now achieved twice this season. He has eight victories on the year, as many as in the previous three seasons combined.

FORMULA 1 – Lewis Hamilton won his third successive Grand Prix victory by taking the chequered flag in China. It was the first threepeat in Hamilton’s career which started in 2007. It was the Briton’s 25th career race win in F1, making him join Jim Clark and Niki Lauda in eighth place all-time. Hamilton is the first to win this GP three times, the first to finish on the podium in this race six times and the second to lead it from start to finish (Fernando Alonso, 2005).

REVIEW: Next generation thrives in 2014 F1 season opener

FORMULA 1 – Sons of former Formula 1 drivers took the spotlight in the 2014 Australian Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2014 F1 season. Nico Rosberg won the race. It was his fourth career chequered flag, just one fewer than the five by father Keke. Kevin Magnussen, son of Jan, became only the third driver in the last 43 years to finish in the top three in his debut race, joining Jacques Villeneuve (1996, 2nd) and Lewis Hamilton (2007, 3rd).

REVIEW: Vettel equals Alonso with 32nd career GP win

FORMULA 1 – Sebastian Vettel triumphed in the 2013 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Italy, raising his career total of chequered flags to 32. That total is now equal to Fernando Alonso’s and is tied for most career race wins by an active driver. The drivers that the pair are chasing have all retired: Michael Schumacher (91), Alain Prost (51) and Ayrton Senna (41). The next five Grands Prix will take place in Asia, where Vettel has taken 17 of his 32 race wins.

PREVIEW: China GP is most ‘open’ of current F1 races

FORMULA 1 – On Sunday, the Grand Prix of China will take place for the 10th time. The previous nine races have been won by eight different drivers, making this the most diverse winners’ circle among Grands Prix that are currently on the F1 calendar. Our Infographic shows where each race stands.
