THE Wave: Southampton – Chelsea
FOOTBALL – Southampton drew 1-1 with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. The wave shows a dominating first half by Southampton (red) until a couple of minutes before half time, when Chelsea ( blue) scored the equaliser. REVIEW: Messi finishes 2014 calendar year on 50 goals for Barça
FOOTBALL – By scoring a brace late in a 5-0 victory over Córdoba CF, Lionel Messi raised his total of official goals for FC Barcelona in the 2014 calendar year to 50. At club level, Messi has now cracked the half century in four of the last five calendar years. The only exception in that span was last seasson, when he finished with 39 goals for the blaugranas.

ALPINE SKIING – This weekend, Lindsey Vonn will be vying to equal the all-time record for World Cup race victories in ladies’ alpine skiing. The American comes into the weekend in Val d’Isère as one of the favourites for both the Downhill and the Super G. FOOTBALL – Thierry Henry has retired on 16 December 2014. France’s all-time top scorer Paris became an international superstar and played for AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona and New York Red Bulls. read more here.
Europa League seedings do not separate best and worst
Due to basing the seedings for the Europa League draws on six matches within uneven groupings which were created by the UEFA coefficient systems, the seedings for today’s Europa League draw do not actually separate the best and worst remaining teams into two separate groups. Using a longer term rating system, the Euro Club Index, reveals that the seeded and unseeded groups both contain some of the best teams left in the competition and the absolute best trio left in the competition are all unseeded.
