REVIEW: France win their first European Volleyball title

VOLLEYBALL – France defeated Slovenia in the final of the men’s 2015 European Championship on Sunday. For Slovenia it was their first final in an Olympic team sport since 2004 (World or continental championship), when they lost the men’s handball title against Germany at the European Championship.

REVIEW: Sagan first Slovakian to win world title

Cycling – Peter Sagan became the first ever rider from Slovakia to win the World Championships men’s road race. Peter Sagan has now won 78 UCI races, including 19 in United States (24%).

CYCLING – The 2015 Tour de France finished on Sunday. See below some various facts & figures about this year’s edition.

GENERAL: Final Tour de France earnings

CYCLING – Chris Froome won the 2015 Tour de France and earned €503,530 combined, most of all riders. His final classification victory alone was already worth €450,000, which is more than any other team has earned combined.

GENERAL: Tour de France earnings

CYCLING – Peter Sagan has earned €46,080 in the first 16 stages of the 2015 Tour de France. This is more than 18 teams have earned so far. Sagan is followed by three time stage winner André Greipel and leader in the general classification Chris Froome.

REVIEW: Earning Tour 2015

CYCLING – The 2015 Tour de France is in its first rest day after nine days of racing. Etixx – Quick-Step has earned €44,350, most of all teams. They have earned more than 22 times as much as FDJ (€2,010).

THE WAVE: Real Madrid – Juventus

FOOTBALL – Real Madrid and Juventus drew 1-1 in Madrid on Wednesday. Juventus equalled FC Barcelona and Bayern München in reaching the Champions League final (since 1992/93) for the fifth time. Only AC Milan have more final berths (6).

Real Madrid had 22 total shots while Juve had only seven. This is clearly shown in the wave below as Real Madrid was pushing harder to score even after being 1-0 up after 23 minutes.

REVIEW: Burnley suffer 7th top flight relegation

FOOTBALL – Despite beating Hull City 1-0 on Saturday, Burnley were relegated from the Premier League because of results on other grounds. It was Burnley’s second relegation as a promoted side in the Premier League era (1992 onwards). Only Crystal Palace has been relegated more often from the Premier League as a promoted club (3).

THE WAVE: United v City

FOOTBALL – Manchester United defeated Manchester City 4-2 in the Premier League on Sunday. The wave shows a great start by City, including scoring the opener, but after United scored the equaliser in the 18th minute, City was nowhere to be found.

THE WAVE: Liverpool v Manchester United

FOOTBALL – Manchester United won 2-1 at Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. Liverpool were down to 10 men after Steven Gerrard was sent off only 42 seconds after coming on at half time. Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said: “The best 45 minutes, we played them off the pitch in the first half.” See for yourself in our Wave.
